Customer Upload of Images

Our customers need to upload images to our site for us to print. Is there a way to include an "upload" image on either the shopping cart page? We currently do this by creating a separate category IMAGE UPLOAD, and a Product of the same name. I would prefer this to be in either the Shopping Cart Area or the Contact Us page.

We are not currently charging for these uploads.

Thanks.

Re: Customer Upload of Images

This upload is normally associated with some product being purchased.
Like buying a T-Shirt and wanting a picture I have printed on it.

As such, the upload is allowed via attributes added to the product and a "browse" selector is presented to the customer
See Upload example HERE

Dear Kobra,

I tried to create an upload area using the attribute feature. I see that only when potential buyers complete cart checkout, then the file could be uploaded.

I believe Contact Us section should have file upload area. Please regard this my wish list one if there's no way to do so now.

I appreciate all your reply posts.

Yes that is correct and why would you want uploaded files that were not for a purchased item customization???
An open upload can be disasterous as you can receive anything

Exellent point, Kobra...

But in our case, there are times when we combine more than an image into one. I would like to let only those who are registered to see the upload section of the Contact Us... Is there a way to create a page to be viewed only by registered users?

By the way where (which directory of the website) can I find the uploaded image? From which directory of the website do I fetch the uploaded image into my hard disk to work on?

Thanks for taking time to reply...

Might it be over the top to have them ZIP multi images into one file??

Test it your self upload an image and look in /images/uploads

Re: Customer Upload of Images

Thanks Kobra for the idea of Zipping files.

We will certainly implement that idea.

Thanks also letting me know that uploaded images appear in the /zencart/images/upload directory.

You've certainly helped me.

Blessings to you!

Re: Customer Upload of Images

Dear Kobra,

I agree with you that clients usually don't know how to zip files, and I better use Page3 of More Information section to explain zipping procedure fo novies.

Now, a new problem that I face is: how I could put back page 3 which I removed from template somewhere at the beginning thinking that I may not use them.

Could you advice me how can I put back page 3 to More Information area which I renamed to "Upload, etc."?

I looked into all the templates this afternoon but failed to locate the right file...

Can you kindly let me know the name of the file?

Thanks!

Re: Customer Upload of Images

I figured out how to put the page 3 back...

Now I am trying to figure out how to change "page 3" on the navigation to "How To Zip?"...

Re: Customer Upload of Images

I just fixed that problem also by editing /includes/English/Custom/page 3.php file...

Feel good about myself...

This must be the "Aha moment" which Niccole wrote about once to me....

Thanks all...

Re: Customer Upload of Images

Dear Kobra,

I realized that I could make Upload2, Upload3 Upload4, etc... as shown at the link below.

http://phoup.com/zencart1/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=5

Will I encouter any problem for doing so?

I ask you the above simly because you did not advice me that method but instead guided me to the ZIP method instead, and I know you, the smart one, must have your own reasons for advicing me so.

No I did not and didn't think this fully through as was more against using the contact us path for the reasons stated
What you have done is a great way to do this if as you know how many uploads you will max at
