Streaming videos

Hi again,

I have searched through the forum but as yet there appears to be no actual answers on video streaming for zen cart.

Essentially, I would like users to be able to make their purchase and then view the video - not as a download (I have figured that one out).

I have SWF player etc and tried to create a html page with the link to the test movie but it doesnt work when I come to the download/view button.

Does any one have any ideas? Has anyone actually managed to get zen cart streaming videos upon a purchase?

Thanks

Re: Streaming videos

What you are describing is not a default delivery method in ZenCart.
Also, many hosts have sanctions against Bittorrent, multicast, streaming etc and may not be allowed in a shared environment.

This will have to be custom written and the method would have to be determined pre-hand

Re: Streaming videos

Thanks for your reply. I already have a virtual dedicated server (VPS) and my host ( https://www.hostv.com ) are fine with streaming etc. So I guess that the code to allow streaming video will have to be written and then placed into the zencart script?

A VPS will most likely not be enough horsepower as most setup a dedicated streaming server seperate from their eCommerce or other server.

So I guess that the code to allow streaming video will have to be written and then placed into the zencart script?
Or be a redirect like maybe a "token" system for security
and the token would be from inside of ZenCart

Re: Streaming videos

A redirect is better as I already have a tube site up on the same server. I really wanted users to purchase videos and then view them. But I might have to look at the download option for now then :(

One would have to customize a bit so as to not download but "run" the show script
