really stuck here, can someone help? shopping cart issues.

First of all,

When a customer clicks, buynow or add product, i do not want them to move to the shopping cart page, i want them to stay on the product page and continue shopping, but i do want the side display shoppingcart to update. Right now, clicking the buy now button just gets them to the cart page and they need to click, continue shopping to be able to shop on.

second i want the shopping cart button, buy now, to show on the product info page. Cant seem to get that button there. it is in the product overview page, but not in the product page itself.

furthermore, have pending topics on this forum that had over 100 views, but no response so am pretty stuck.

Anyone generous enough to help me fix these issues?

now, i am missing a step. you say admin/configuration/display.....
but that doesnt exist.
