image placement in ftp

heads up!! First time poster of posting anything - beware

add on and product upload: easy populate
I use my own template mirrored from the classic template and modified it to make my own
not for general public to buy stuff yet but..... https://www.824nothingmore.com/824shop

Okay, everything is fine, but I have a feeling my original image to connect to every other image is in the wrong place. when I go to my storefront instead of seeing the image, I see the name of the image as a link where the image should be.
When I then look at the property of this name/link though my storefront it says:
http://www.824nothingmore.com/824shop/images/vintagepurseimages/vintage-0409.JPG
When I look at the type of file in the properties thorugh my storefront it says:
text/html
(Which I assume should be type/JPG looking at other images on my storefront)

I have my files stored in my ftp as such
Original image: images/vintagepurseimages/vintage-007.jpg
medium image: images/medium/vintagepurseimages/vintage-007MED.jpg
large image: images/large/vintagepurseimages/vintage-007LRG.jpg

This is what I have been doing thus far:

  1. I loaded all the product and information via easy populate (which I don't think is the problem since I have done this successfully without having subdirectories for my images). I also did all the refreshing and what not in admin after this.

  2. uploaded the images to my server and the files listed above to my shops files through my ftp. refreshed again in admin

However, the only way for me to see my images including the medium and large files is if I upload the first image to the image file itself instead of the subdirectory I created. I thought I was following the format for using images placed with in a subdirectory correct, but apparently not. Therefore, when using a subdirectory for my product files where does the initial file need to be?

Sincerely,
Tina
