Am I not understanding attributes?

Hi, Im using the latest zen cart release.

This may be technical, or I may just not be understanding the use of attributes correctly.

Ok, what I am trying to do, is set a product, then have 2-3 options to that product, so (item A) which you can have in (size A) or (size B) at two seperate costs. Now Figured the simple way would be to place the product price at £0.00, then each option at its respective prices, with radio buttons to select and one sat as default so the buyer MUST have one selected.

My main problem is on the front page in the 'featured' section, I would like the lowest price to be displayed of the options, but the only way it seems to do this is by setting a product price (£5.00) but then if an option is £5.00 in checkout, it will add it together (£5.00 + 5.00 = £10.00).

Any ideas / guidance welcome

If you go to edit your product catalogue >> categories / products >> (select product to edit) >> within product select radio button " Product Priced by Attributes: YES" , and ensure product price is set to £0.00 then the front end (and anywhere your product is displayed with price will show the lowest priced attribute)
