Background color and IE 6 and IE 7

This is a new install of zencart 1.3.8a on a godaddy shared hosting server. This is not a live site. Did very simple style changes in a copy of the classic template. Added background colors to the navCattabs and sidebar boxes, etc. When displayed in IE6 and IE7, the background color drops below the horizontal navigation background. scrolling up or down reverses the drop. It appears like a drop float, however no widths were modified from the standard install. Looks fine in FireFox, Safari, and Opera. Not good in IE6 or IE7. Not sure about IE8. Link is

Any help would be appreciated.

im not exactly sure on this one .. but here seems to be the problem

#navColumnOne, #navColumnTwo {stylesheet.css (line 342)
background-color:transparent;
}

and you have set the color in body to

body {stylesheet.css (line 11)
color:#59100A;
font-family:verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;
font-size:62.5%;
}

you may want to change body color to white and comment the transparent to see if that helps out with IE .

I noticed that the banner at the bottom of the page was aligned left. you should center it under the site.
