Curl Error when setting up Zen Cart on Windows XP using Xampp

Hi,
I've been following the E-start pdf instructions very carefully to install zc locally but have stumbled across my first problem on page 48

I've downloaded the latest zencart 1.3.8a and using xampp version 1.4.16 as recommended.

I have the following error message

• CURL not compiled into PHP - notify server administrator

I've double checked in my file <xampp/apache/bin/php. ini that i've removed the semicolon in front of the words “extension=php_curl.dll”

My PHP cURL Support field shows up as OFF on the system inspection page.

Please can anyone help and get me running again?:D

Done a restart of computer, gone back through set up and the error has kindly gone?

Yes, that is the correct behavior. Some Windows systems require the restart as mentioned in the book.

oops...thought i'd already done restart when prompted after installing xampp.
it's now installed ok locally and i'm looking forward to reading on:D
