Noob in Need!

Hey All,

I recently started using zen cart, and I have just started to learn on how to create your own custom layout. Now from what I have read so far, it seems that your website uses the same layout for each page. I have 6-10 different layouts in mind for my website. Is it possible to have a different layout for each page on my website using zen cart.

E.g

Home Page = Layout 1
Categories selection = Layout 2
Products Page = Layout 1
Description Page = Layout 3
etc...

If so can someone point me in the direction where I can learn on how to effectively setup each page individually using the layouts I have in mind for each of the pages.

essentially all layouts are based around the 3 column concept but some have some alterations.

e.g.
Layout 1:

Layout 2:

Layout 3:

and so on.

At first glance, some may be possible - but may require lots of re-coding. Some "custom" layouts can be controlled by "element-specific" stylesheets. Other pages can be influenced by page-specific headers.

You need to talk to a zencart guru about how best this is achieved. While your images refer to "columns", you do not specify what content is to appear in each column. This will require a detailed and comprehensive brief from you, and is probably in the realm of "Commercial Help Wanted" as there would be a lot of work involved.

Ok, so lets step back then in technical level. Can you build specific pages by say:

homepage uses a white left sidebar
about us has left sidebar disabled
shopping cart has left and right sidebar disabled

Or do they all you the same body layout?

There's a file in **includes/templates/classic/css **called css_read_me.txt which discusses (briefly) page-specific stylesheets, which is where I think you'd want to start, using display:none; in the proper places.

You can disable header, footer and side-columns for specific pages, by editing tpl_main_page.php in the COMMON folder of your template. If it is not there, then use the DEFAULT file, and when edited, put it in includes/templates/YOUR-TEMPLATE/common/tpl_main_page.php .
