Quantity Pricing

Hey all, i currently have an Online Wine shop that i'm trying to Setup - I am currently using ver 1.3.8

For every person who buys a full case (6 bottles), they receive a 5% discount

However i've been having some difficulty setting prices

Case 1:

Someone wants 8 bottles

I want the price to reflect

[the price of the case (6) ie. with discount] + [the price of the extra bottles (2)]

Case 2:

Someone wants 12 bottles

I want the price to reflect

[the price of the case (6) ie. with discount] x 2

Case 1:

Someone wants 14 bottles

I want the price to reflect

[the price of the case (6) ie. with discount x2] + [the price of the extra bottles (2)]

This has to be done with an unlimited amount seeing that the cart will not be fully functional yet, I am just using it atm to receive Purchase Orders from customers

Thanks for your time and any assistance rendered

Nicholas

PS Sorry if this has been asked already

Re: Quantity Pricing

You can't do this with the default Quantity Discount facility in Zen Cart. You could do it with the Quantity Discounts contribution, but you'd still have to write code to make it work this way.

Re: Quantity Pricing

Has a program or add-on been written for this yet?

Re: Quantity Pricing

No, I don't think there's an add-on, you'd probably need to write custom code for this.

BUT might i suggest a workaround? You could sell the cases as a separate product from the individual bottles, and apply the discount only to the case products.

So, you would have 2 "products" for every wine...

Product #101a
Merlot (single bottles)
$10 each

Product #101b
Merlot (case of 6)
$57 ($60 -5% discount)

Re: Quantity Pricing

On another note, when selling wine online be VERY careful of your local laws. You need to make sure you're not allowing customers from out-of-state to purchase, and also some states prohibit the shipping of alcohol at all.

Re: Quantity Pricing

hi Jackie,

Thanks for the advice :)

It is appreciated

One small Question though - when you mean two products, do you mean two SEPARATE entities or one name and two options

you can view my cart at shop(dot)fernandeswines(dot)com

thanks!

Re: Quantity Pricing

exactly right, two separate entities.

i like your site, flash adds a nice touch. i did notice that on the ordering page, there's a fine beige line running down the center of the text. Test in Firefox and you'll see it. Just thought I'd let ya know.

btw, where's the zen cart? I didn't see a link to the shop.

Re: Quantity Pricing

the shop is located at - shop(dot)fernandeswines(dot)com

the wines and spirits link on the main page, links to that address above - i have disabled that for now until i get the cart fully functional
