Sales Tax not working

I have Tax Class: "Californian Tax" defined.

Tax Rate for "Californian Tax" is defined in Zone "California" at the correct percentage rate.

Zone "California" defined with the description "California local sales tax zone".

The problem is when someone orders with an address in California, there is no sales tax being calculated at checkout.

I must be missing something.

What else do I need to do to get the Sales Tax portion to work?

Did you set the specific Zone Definition and enter the Details for the Country being the US and the Zone being California? :unsure:

The United States is defined as a country

California is defined as a Zone of the United States

California has a Zone Definition (There is a folder icon that when you click it the list shows Country: United States Zone: California)

There is a Tax Class of "California" (used to be Californian Tax)

and the Tax Rate is defined as the correct percentage

Somehow I have missed something, because when someone with a billing address in California checks out there is no sales tax.

See if the Priority is set to 1 ...

Does this need to be set to California for all products?

If so, is there a way to set this for all products?

I tried setting the Tax Class on some products to California and tested it purchasing those items.

I am still not getting any sales tax.

I tried to edit the above message but I was too late apparently.

I was able to get that to work on a test dummy zen cart site.

So, I will need to set the Tax Class for each and every taxable item in the database.

Is there an easy way to do this in bulk?

If you want to change ALL Products to be taxable, you can usually use in the Tools ... Install SQL Patches ...

UPDATE products SET products_tax_class_id =1;

NOTE: check the value of the products_tax_class_id in a Product that you have manually set to Taxable Goods to ensure the value is 1 ...

NOTE: Backup your database before making changes ...
