Problem with Per Unit perweight method

I have an odd problem occuring with my shipping.

Whenever someone changes the quantity in the shopping cart, the shipping remains the same.

For example Product A cost $5.00 and has a shipping cost of $1.00. The customer adds Product A to their shopping cart, and then in the shopping cart changes the quantity to 2. When they checkout it shows 2x Product A $10.00 Shipping $1.00 Subtotal $11.00 When it should show 2x Product A $10.00 Shipping $2.00 Subtotal $12.00
This also happens when someone originally has 2 items and changes it to 1, they are still charged shipping for 2 items.

How can I fix this?

Anybody have an idea on this.

This can be a pretty serious problem.

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

How do you have your Product Setup?

Product is Virtual?

Product is Always Free Shipping?

Product Weight?

What are your settings in the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module?

What are the settings in the Configure ... Shipping/Packaging?

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

Have you an URL to a Product that isn't working and can you also give the weight that you have set in the products_weight field and if you have attributes the weights on those as well?

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

This is not an issue that happens with some products and not others.

All products are effected.

I am randomly selecting http://www.bodykits.net/front-lips/mitsubishi/eclipse/147517/ for a product URL.

In this case 95 is entered as products_weight field since it cost $95.00 to ship that product.

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

Are you changing the quantity from 1 to 2 or vise versa from main_page=shopping_cart?

That is where there is a problem.

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

...but not when you checkout.

Every single time that I test it.

Once I reach the checkout_payment page and then go change the quantity in my shopping cart, the shipping ALWAYS remains as it was.

If I originally had 2 of an item and then change it to 1, I will always be charged shipping for 2 of that item.

The weight does change but the amount that you are charged at payment time does not.

We have very large items and shipping is a major factor in the cost. This is a very serious problem.

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

I am not sure how your checkout is working but it may not be processing the shipping properly to recheck the weight if the amount is changed ...

You appear to have a custom checkout ... for that you would need to find where you got your add ons ...

You might also test what happens with UPS or USPS just to see if the shipping charges change when you add products to the cart in the same manner ...

There is no add on.

How do I make sure that it will recheck the weight if the amount is changed?

What are you using for the Terms agreement and the no_account checkout?

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

The terms is a layer on the page that displays unless the customer agrees.

A session cookie controls the visibility of the layer.

How do I make sure that it will recheck the weight if the amount is changed once they get to checkout_payment?

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

Either you are working on your site and doing something really weird or your site just got hacked ... look at your checkout ...

You appear to be skipping the checkout_shipping ... I am guessing you have something to skip from checkout_shipping to checkout_payment and it is happening before the shipping is being checked in the header_php.php file for the /pages/checkout_shipping ...

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

I want it to flow that way.

We require that the billing and shipping address be the same.

So we want the customer to go from the billing information page to the checkout_payment page without steps in between.

They do go to the checkout_shipping page after entering their billing information, but are then redirected to the checkout_payment page.

Would placing the redirect code near the end of the page resolve this issue?

Re: Problem with Per Unit perweight method

I had an error in the Google Checkout shipping_methods.php that caused the strange display.

Thanks for the heads up.
