Admin pages hacked, what files do I restore?

Hello all,

Yesterday my dedicated server was hacked and loads of damage was caused to loads of sites. Most of it has now been fixed but I still have one problem, when I go to the shop's admin page the page half displays the admin page and half displays a hack message and doesn't work.

What files do I need to upload from my backup to get it running again?

I really appreciate any help that people can give me as I'm pulling my hair out here!

My kindest regards
Richard

If you have copy of zencart database before hacking, suggest you reinstall brand new zencart , and then add saved database.

Re: Admin pages hacked, what files do I restore?

Hi Misty,

Thank you for your reply.

I do have a copy of the db but there were loads of customisations to the system so I'd rather just try to fix it. Any idea of which files I'd need to upload. The developer who made the customisations is no longer contactable...

My kindest regards
Richard

Personally would forgo customisations for secure zencart
BUT if you must keep them, try downloading brand new set of zencart , and reupload all admin files...
making sure you correctly alter admin config file for existing database config.
BACKUP existing files first.

Re: Admin pages hacked, what files do I restore?

Hi Misty,

Thank you for your post. I have now got the admin section working but when I visit the /shop/ folder I get part of my shop with a large hacked message over it. Do you know which files/folders I'd need to upload to correct this?

Thank you once again Misty.
My kindest regards
Richard

Sorry, no idea, and suspect even of you solve this latest problem,
others will then materialise.
As advised earlier, for peace of mind and security for you/your postential customers, start from scratch, using
non corrupted sql backup.

Re: Admin pages hacked, what files do I restore?

Hi Misty,

Thanks for all your help. I copied some of the hack text to the clipboard and pasted it into a search and searched the entire site. I found 61 files which have now all been replaced. Everything now works.

Thanks once again for all your help.

My kindest regards
Richard
