as store admin can i place order for customer

a customer placed an order for a downloadable virtual product. he did not choose any attributes so wondered why he didn't have a download link. i changed so that all attributes are automatically checked to avoid this, but i couldn't figure out how to access his account/order history page so i could manually either try to add the attributes to his order or possibly place a new no cost order on his behalf without his involvement. I don't know how to access his password and log in as him so i have been searching for an answer.

Because it has taken me too much time i just emailed his order, but now his account has an order that wasn't properly fulfilled.

is there a way to create an order for a customer and override paying for it so in case i need to i can?

Reason this ability would be helpful is i am considering offering my downloadables offline as well and i would want them to be able to log on and get the download that i created for them even though they didn't go through a traditional order and pay for it.

any way of doing this?

i am running Zen Cart 1.3.8a

There's the Master Password mod which will allow you to place an order as a customer, and this:

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=444

which allows you to edit orders already placed.

THANKS

d/l the edit add on...where do i find the Master Password Mod...is it an add on? If not which tab is it in as i don't seem to see it?

It's an Add On. There are two - one encrypted and one not.

Re: as store admin can i place order for customer

i have successfully configured my cart so that i now was able to go edit the users order and fix the fact he iddn't choose the attirbule...yippee...now i have downloaded the add on so that i can login to any user with my admin password and this part is making me nervous as i don't want to screw anything up.

the first instruction says to

If you are installing the version that includes the Master Password Module do the Following:
Install the SQL patch located in the pass.sql file.
i have opened up the above mentioned file and see the string that i am supposed to add...i have never installed a patch so i don't know if this is something that i am supposed to find a sql file and copy and paste code in??? how exactly do i "install" this patch.

Rename the includes/templates/template_default for the version with Master Password included folder to the name of your template folder.
this is scarring me as well. i know how to find the template_default folder but i am confused as to what it is telling me to do....if i login using FTP and follow this path....i have my template_default folder and a folder called classic...i am not even sure which folder my system is using...if classic is there does this mean my zen cart is using the classic for my theme and so am i supposed to be changing the templat_default folder provided by the creator of this add on and change it to classic

Copy the entire contents of the catalog folder for the version with Master Password included to your zencart root installation folder.

Open the sql file in your text editor and copy the contents (just the contents - no spaces top or bottom) to the clipboard (I assume you're using Windows). Go to Admin - Tools - Install SQL Patches and paste into the box. Click Send.

In your case, for now, your templlate folder is 'classic'. (You should change that - see the Tutorials/FAQ on 'custom template').

Re: as store admin can i place order for customer

i started configuring this site back in october 08 so it took me forever and a day of a million other projects to finish this so i knwo there are things i once understood and then lost due to time...

i copied ONLY the into..no spaces before or after and got this:

1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_descr' at line 1
in:
[(configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, last_modified, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES ('Master Password', 'MASTER_PASS', 'yourpassword', 'This password will allow you to login to any customer's account.', 1, 23, now(), now(), NULL, NULL);]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

i am not sure off hand or where to check for what version i am running to know what syntax is proper.

Re: as store admin can i place order for customer

I have installed the admin_login_as_customer to set an order for my customers but when I click place order a new page pops-up with the those lines of text :

Are you sure you want to log in as:

First Name : customer name
.................
................
...........

and at the end a two buttons with ( place order ) and ( cancel order ) so I click on the place order and then it turns to a page with an error highlighted in red :

Error: Sorry, there is no match for that email address and/or password.

and followed by this line of text :

Returning Customers: Please Log In

and the two fields for the customer to log in ! I don't think that how it works .. can anybody help me to gets it work ?
