Where should I be storing my product images?

Hello,

I just have a quick question about storing product images. Currently I have my images stored under

www.MYSITE.com/cart/images

where all the other default images were stored. I am getting close to launching my site and just realized that these images are not saved under a custom override folder.

Should I be saving and relinking all my images to

www.MYSITE.com/cart/includes/templates/CUSTOM/images

so i don't lose them on an Zen Cart version update? or do I not quite understand the override system. Why does Zen Cart store images in more than one location?

Thanks for you time,

Adrian

Re: Where should I be storing my product images?

You have your product images in exactly the right location.
Template images should go in your override folder under /includes/templates/your_template/images/.

The product images will not depend on what template you are using, and your new images in /images/ will not be overwritten in an upgrade.

Re: Where should I be storing my product images?

NOTE: depending on the number of Products and images on your site you may wish to categories your images for smaller directories and fast access and a little better organization ...

Example:
/image/widgets
/images/medium/widgets
/images/iarge/widgets

/image/rings
/images/medium/rings
/images/iarge/rings

/image/dvd
/images/medium/dvd
/images/iarge/dvd

This way you don't have all images to dig through on your site ...
