Does Admin change the databse or php files?

Hi All,

I think I am getting to grips with the override system and the file structure and the fact that if you are required to update a php file then you are best overriding it.

But what about changes through the Admin area? I presume/hope that Admin only updates the database and doesn't change php files but can anyone confirm that please.

Any changes you make through admin will not be affected when you upgrade. All your override files will be saved.

Since admin files themselves can't be overridden, though, any changes you make there will be lost.

So what files does 'Admin' change? Are they in the includes area?

There is only ONE case where the admin could be used to change files: /includes/languages/YOUR_LANGUAGE/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html_includes/define_xxxxxx.php
Everything else the admin area controls is in the database and not in PHP files.
