Gzip and have no clue

Hi, was reading in the book on page 374 about the Gzip thing and it says to ask service provider.

this is what I asked them:

Hi,

Running Zen Cart - does the server send out data in GZip format? Cart has an option to set it to do so but if the PHP server already does this then I am not to select this feature.

Do your servers do this?

This is what they responded with:

Could you please create a somefile.php file in your public_html and check it.

I will attach a file with this email, please add that content to the file you create.

and call the file with yourdomain.com/somefile.php

any idea what they are talking about? I have no idea.

Wow - the amount of stuff you know amazes me!!

It said it wasn't Gzipped - however, currently I have the site on lock down - maintenance and password protected while I bulid it.

I'm building it this way.

Setup / security / optimization / email / shipping / products / live.

I jumped to the end to try and figure out the optimization before adding in tons of stuff :smile:
