Adding and Removing page links in left Nav column

Hi all,

I've been looking like mad throughout my files here on my server and also for information about this in the forum here.

Basically what I want to do is change the names and add some more names to the navigation bar on the left of my site.

I want it to look like the in the link below:
http://www.intricate-designs.co.nz/sitestorage/

See how the name Products is at the top, I've already changed that in Zencart, but I want to add the rest of those links to my nav bar and have the actual site change to the pages with the right name.

Example:

If I want people to view the NICU page then the link would need to look like the one below

http://www.intricate-designs.co.nz/kamelotkidz/index.php?main_page=nicu

So if anyone can help that would be great.

The site I'm working on is
http://www.intricate-designs.co.nz/kamelotkidz/

thanks alot all.

Rick

Re: Adding and Removing page links in left Nav column

And what is the NICU page supposed to be? Do you need an actual PHP-coded page named nicu? If they are not product pages, using the categories sidebox to point to them is creating headaches for yourself. If they are product pages, why are you not using categories? A category can have as much description and images as you want.

If your critical requirement is that the URL look just so, you can look at one of the SEO mods - Ceon's Custom URI Mapping (not sure of the exact name) may do what you want.

Your nciu link goes to a 404 page.

What you have labeled as 'Products' is the Categories sidebox. If you want links there, you'll need to create categories in Admin - Catalog.

Or do I not understand what you're trying to do?

Re: Adding and Removing page links in left Nav column

Sorry for the confusion, I've linked you fellas also to an html layout of the site I did for my client so they could see what the site would proberly look like in Zencart so of ;)

What i'm trying to do is add more products to the categories sidebox and also to add a homepage link in the bottom of that categories sidebox if possible. If not at least in a seperate sidebox that will line up directly below the other categorie classes.

So basically it'd look like below

<Products

<Blankets
<Wraps
<Clothing
<NICU
<Gift Vouchers

<All Products
<New Products

<Home

And that would be the enitre list in my left colum.

I'm also going to want to add more information links in an area down the bottom of the page (The blue bar) Refer to Here not the links in the blue bar ;)

Thanks fellas

Re: Adding and Removing page links in left Nav column

As soon as you create the categories Blankets, Wraps, Clothing, NICU, Gift Vouchers, they will show up in the categories ("Products") sidebox.

If you don't want any of the links that are under Information, you may want to turn off the Information sidebox and turn on the ez-pages sidebox. With an internal link titled "Home", you can have the Home link below the categories as you show. You can use CSS in your stylesheet to hide the ez-pages sidebox heading and make the link fit the way you want.

For the footer links, again use ez-pages internal links and activate them for the footer.

Thanks for the info I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Re: Adding and Removing page links in left Nav column

Can anyone tell me how to change the ez-pages sidebox heading? Mine says "important links" and I want to change it to something else. I can't find what file is designating this.

thanks!

Use the Admin - Tools - Developers Tool Kit to search for 'important links' to see where that can be changed.
