Adding SSL wreaking havoc on my site layout

Hi there,

I just moved Zen Cart to a new host at my client's request, and now we'll be hooking up SSL, a requirement so that we can run our products on Amazon. The SSL is set up, but when I go to the https home page, it looks like the browser threw up - images erroring out, and no apparent styles.

Not sure if there's anything anyone can suggest, but here it is before:
http://www.gracenotes.com/windchimestore/

...and after:
https://www.gracenotes.com/windchimestore/

Is this because I need to switch all links, including images and stylesheets, from relative to absolute paths? I want to give my client some idea of what it will take to get this set up so we can get listed on Amazon.

it doesn't appear that your SSL was installed correctly

Re: Adding SSL wreaking havoc on my site layout

It looks to me as though your SSL is setup correctly, but the values that you have put into your configure files for it are wrong.

Might you possibly have a line like this in there

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', 'https://www.gracenotes.com/windchimestore/');
If so, change it to
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

Re: Adding SSL wreaking havoc on my site layout

I changed to SSL two weeks ago. I am 1.3.8a on Linux server.

The only thing I had to do was edit admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php. The only edits was to change the total of three statements concerning SSL (two in one file, one in the other) from False to True. No other changes, renaming of things etc.

Re: Adding SSL wreaking havoc on my site layout

I tried what Kuroi suggested but unfortunately it hasn't made any difference. Files which error out on right now can be accessed fine by typing in their full paths (https://www.gracenotes.com/......pathtoimage.../image.jpg), so I am guessing the problem is because Zen Cart is using relative links instead of full paths. Is there any way to force Zen Cart to using the full server paths for every file?

Re: Adding SSL wreaking havoc on my site layout

It actually made a big difference but still ends up in the same place. But at least you're no longer getting the URL root appearing twice in your https URLs.

There's nothing wrong with Zen Cart using relative paths, that's normal. The problem is that they don't yet seem to be applied to the right base.

The base that the images and css files are being given when you use SSL is currently "https://www.gracenotes.com/secure/" but there's no sign of your css files there. Do you have an SSL arrangement on your server that requires you to have a copy of all files in a "secure" folder? If so have you copied your site to that location.

If your SSL operates in the more normal way and you only need one copy of it (hugely easier to maintain), then your base should be https://www.gracenotes.com/windchimestore/

The base is set either in your configure files, or possibly using an external method if that's how your hosts SSL works.

Re: Adding SSL wreaking havoc on my site layout

That did it! I had the HTTPS server set inside the /secure directory since that was the physical location of the certificate. But, when I changed it to /windchimestore, it all works correctly now.

Thank you so much!!!
