new template - why does it not look like classic?

Hi,

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.8a running on Windows (for now).

I followed the 'create a new template' instructions at https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=142 and got my new template. I am confused though, based on those instructions, should it not look like the classic template that it was created from? It doesn't at all, which makes it very hard to start customising, as I didn't want it all that much different from classic to begin with.

So, is the big difference (most colours missing) expected?

Thanks.

Re: new template - why does it not look like classic?

A link to your site would help a lot, but if you have some grey, teal and orange, you're looking at the default template. The 'Classic' template, while installed by default, isn't the template_default, it's a sample custom template.

Once you've created your custom template folders, you need to copy the files from the includes/templates/classic folders to yours, and edit template_info.php.

There's no reason you can't start customizing from template_default, though.

Hi,

Great to see such a responsive forum :)

There is no live version of the site yet so I can't show it to you.

It does indeed sound like I have the default template. I'll copy the classic files as you suggest and see what I get.

Thanks!
