Problems with telephone no. during transfer to Paypal

Hi,
When a customer is taken to Paypal to pay, their phone number becomes shortened and is not recognised by Paypal. Paypal say the problem is in my Zencart and the info being relayed over to them.
Does anyone know where the file is so that I can get at it and correct it please? And is it straight forward to correct?
