Unique use of zencart

I'm new to zencart, and would like to get a bit of reassurance before I plow all my time into. Had a flick through the manual, I mainly sell unique items, many hundreds a week.

Would zen cart work for such a use without big headaches? from what I've seen easy populate will do to add the products ok, but then what after that has been done - would I have any issues?

Is it possible to make out of stock products disappear from the stock all together? as the impression the manual gave was that in a normal set up the products would remain on site but with out of stock graphics at best - sure there must be a way around that one?

cheers guys, just want some reassurance before I invest all that time

Re: Unique use of zencart

Zen Cart is designed to let you sell products online. It doesn't care how old they are, or how many you sell.

Yes, you can configure Zen Cart to set the product status to off when you have sold out. The reason that many people leave it on is that they can re-order and so don't wish to effectively remove it from the catalogue - obviously your situation is different, but Zen Cart is equally happy with the solution you need. It's a simple switch in Admin > Configuration > Stock.

Re: Unique use of zencart

That'll do nicely,

I also got the impression that there are professionals out there that'd be able to build extensions/modifications to my copy of zen cart should I get to somewhat of a dead end

Re: Unique use of zencart

There is a commercial help wanted section of the forum specifically for requesting such help in a semi-controlled environment and if you spend much time in the forum you'll build up a good feel for who works professionally with the software and knows their stuff.
