Custom newsletter...

Is there a way to set up that newsletter that comes with Zen-Cart to bypass the Zen-Cart newsletter and link directly to your own? Here is the code I have for my own autoresponder:

    <form id="newsletterpanel" action="http://durkmusicbeats.com/ir/s.php" method="get" target="_blank">
      <fieldset>
      <label class="text_on_top">Artist Name:</label>
      <input type="text" name="f" size=20 maxlength=40>
      <label class="text_on_top">Email:</label>
      <input type="text" name="e" size=20 maxlength=50>
      <br>
      <br>
      <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Subscribe">
      <input type="hidden" name="r" value="2">
      <input type="hidden" name="a" value="sub">
      <input type="hidden" name="ref" value="none"><br><br>
      <p>Learn <a href="http://www.durkmusicbeats.com/newsletter.html">More</a></p>
      </fieldset>
    </form>

Is there a way to basically just replace some of this code with some of the newsletter code and have it work seamlessly together?

Thanks :)

Re: Custom newsletter...

The built-in newsletter list in Zen Cart v1.x doesn't give you the option of storing the subscriber information someplace else.
You have a few options:

  1. Use the built-in feature. Perhaps add the Email Address Exporter addon and use it to periodically update your other system when you want to send emails.
  2. Disable the built-in feature and add your own addon sidebox to allow the option of subscribing using whatever other tool you've got on your site.

Re: Custom newsletter...

I suppose you could try grabbing the blank sidebox contribution and building your own content into it.

Re: Custom newsletter...

I'm dumb and I can't seem to find anything about sidebox creation. Can you give me a little push in the right direction? lol Thanks.

Re: Custom newsletter...

  1. Click the "Free Software Addons" link at the top of this page.
  2. Search for "Blank Sidebox"
  3. Select it from the list.
  4. Download and unzip it.
  5. Work your way through the instructions.
