Public Submissions of Product - a Zen Portal?

I haven't found the answer in my exploration but I wondered if the Cart has been adapted to act as a sales portal for the public - eBay style?

I'm considering offering a service for the public to sell their product through my company but I don't want the workload of hundreds, even thousands, of small items, and I thought that maybe someone on the forum had come on the same idea?

If not, and if the cart can't offer that level of secure interaction can anyone point me to a suitable application for that part of the business?

There have been lots of questions about whether Zencart can be used as a 'mall' operation, but no one has stepped up to write the (very complicated, I'd guess) mod.

Yes, that was my suspicion.

Looks like I'll use the cart as-is and set up customers manually for the time being, then if the service works as anticipated perhaps I'll sponsor a programmer or two to work that mod for everyone.
