lost password and SMTP error when trying to get it resent

Hi all I have lost my password and when i click on resend password then enter my email address i get the following error

Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

does any one know why this is happening?? and how i can fix it??

is there any other way i can change the password?? or get the current password???

Please help i need this fixing asap.
