IE "squishes" my layout, please help :(

Hi,

I use Firefox for everything, but someone went to my site using IE tonight, and emailed me to let me know the site is "squished".

It' something to do with the middle column, because the left and right columns are showing however everything seems to have moved to the left with the middle being so narrow.

You can see my site at http://www.joannes-digital-designs.com

Thanks in advance!

Joanne

Just looked at your site using 3 different Browsers, with one of them being IE 8, and all looked the same -- no squishing involved.

What I did see though, was that you are missing an image in Header because of this coding:

<div id="logo"><a href="http://www.joannes-digital-designs.com/"><img src="includes/templates/classic/images/" alt="" /></a></div>

As no image is being called there is no image to display.

The learning is in the doing.

Re: IE "squishes" my layout, please help :(

Using my IE plugin for Firefox I can see that the page is all squished up, same thing applies when viewing it with IE 7. It looks like something is not right with your stylesheet file.

Any reason why you are using photobucket to host images?

As I found this to be slowing your site down quite a bit. Also you might want to consider resizing your images and using the jpg format instead of the png format as this will help speed things up quite a bit for you. As your background image and heading image are quite large IMO. This can be a problem especially for an ecommerce site if people have to wait too long for for things to load.

Re: IE "squishes" my layout, please help :(

OK, here's what I had to do to get it to come out right:

In stylesheet.css I had to change:

.centerBoxWrapper {
border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
height: 1%;
margin: 1.1em 0;
}

to this:

.centerBoxWrapper {
border: 1px solid #5b0209;
height: 1%;
width: 400px;
margin: 1.1em 0;
}

Thanks for trying to help!!

The squish is fixed, but you've still got a problem in ie6. The mainwrapper has nearly doubled in size so plain white is covering up most of the background.

Re: IE "squishes" my layout, please help :(

How the heck can it double if I have a px amount set? I could see if it were 50% or something.

Well it's going to have to do, because I don't have the time or patience to try and fix it for every version of IE - I don't know why anyone uses it anyway - it's crap LOL
