french language addon causes blank page

french language addon causes blank page

On my site I added the french language pack. When I unzip al the files, my site still works fine although not yet with the french version. But when I fill in the following in my admin:

name : français
- code : fr
- image : icon.gif
- directory : french
  ,my site dissapears. White screen...

I only get him back if I clean my cookies in Firefox.

Can someone give my some advice ?

I found this very useful. I recommend this for all non-English pages as the first troubleshooting step.
In my case, when I did the translation of the billing module, I forgot to backslash an apostrophe, and that killed my php.

Especially if your language has a lot of non-standard characters and/or if you do some translation yourself, this is a great way of finding bugs.
