Re: Unable to Edit Anything via Admin

If you didn't properly apply the admin security patch, it's very common for all attempts to edit things in the admin to result in simply being returned to the admin home page.
Go back and double-check that you applied all 5 files in the admin area, and that you didn't put any of them in the non-admin area.

Although Dr.Byte has already given a 'guaranteed' solution to this problem, I may be able to narrow it down to something a little more specific for you (based on a similar experience)

Check specifically that the file
/admin/includes/functions/html_output.php has been updated with the file contained with the security patch.

On one site I updated this file never got replaced for some reason, so although zencart indicated the patch had been correctly applied, and everything I checked seemed to work correctly, it was only about a week later that it was discovered that new categories couldn't be added (adding new products was fine though).

There were probably other things that would have also been non functional, but it was the inability to add new categories (a week later) that brought this to my attention, so it'll be quite an easy oversight to make.

Cheers
Rod

Thank You DR. Byte and Rod for the solution.
Rod, the file you have mentioned was exactly the problem. I too noticed that after 3 weeks when I needed to modify some details.

Thanks a lot.
I have some other queries which I will post in the relevant threads. Thank You once again.
