How do i assign 1 image to multiple items?

Please help, i have my items setup into categories and would like to assign each category a 'top level' image. Meaning i would like the same image i use for the category to arrive on each of the items?

Either that or just the ability to assign 1 image to a group of items without having to do each one individualy.
