Buy credits

Adding a gift certificate product to a cart does not "tamper" or alter ones cart contents in any way

we could keep posting like this forever unless I majorly clarify:

• as mentioned currently you cannot buy one item (i.e. gift certificates) without buying the entire contents of the shopping cart which I do not wish to do .. I want to give users the opportunity to buy Gift certificates separately and still have the contents of their carts waiting for them should they wish to purchase them.

Trust me I've not just posted without thinking if this is necessary so if you can help I would be most grateful.

While most anything can be coded, this will require some major revamp/addition to the code base. I suggest that you evaluate the worth of it and post to the commercial help wanted section to determine what this will cost.
You can then make a sound business decision.

Yeah, having to buy contents of the whole cart when the user wants to just buy some credits is probably not going to make for a lot of return customers. :smile:

Is this credits system on this clipart site kind of what you were thinking?

I found the above link on a developer's blog. Seems he had to wrestle with some of the same things and gives a break down of how he tackled it.

Thanks for the tip - yes this is what I need. There is no real breakdown available (the link doesn't work or is no longer available). I reckon this guy should share his knowledge of how he did it - almost all of us would know nothing without help from forums like this one that offer free advice & insights..I guess I'll go it alone and when I've conquered I won't hold back to the online community.
