images - IH2

I have given up on tweeking my site for now - going to setting up the products - I have read the image prep pages and some of the stuff on Image handler2 - I am localhost, zen for the manual.

at this point I am assuming I will have to download IH2 - i dont have any files on the www and I have read about some problems during upload.
What will I need to watch out for and is there a link to DL IH2 - which I am assuming that is the program for image prep of choice. TIA

According to the README accompanying IH2 module:-

In order to resize and modify images, Image Handler 2 needs either GD libraries (since version 2) or ImageMagick (since version 6) installed. You can check if your version of PHP includes the GD libraries by going to Admin -> Tools -> Server Info and searching for "GD". You have to ask your host (or read your site's documentation), to learn about an ImageMagick installation.

... not sure how to configure this for a local server...

Hi there - I am currently locked out of my administration and have no idea how to get back in.
So that issue will have to be resoved first before I can check on this.
