Sellling Zen cart with my tempalte installed plus other mods

I have made a cool template and i want to sell it as part of a store manager which is basically Zen cart with a load of mods already installed and customised.

Is this legal?

I am basically selling a template but also within the same file having zen cart files plus various open source mods.

Alternatively i could just sell the template and have a free download of my zen cart store with all the mods included.

I would then advise customers to install a normal zen cart, then overwrite the files with the files downloaded from my site, and dump the database on top (which i will provide)

Is this legal?

You are not permitted to sell the core code.

What you are selling here, however, is largely your expertise and time invested.

Make it absolutely clear to people that a core version of zencart is FREE, OPENSOURCE software, but that what you are offering is a custom construction that will save them a lot of time and effort.

Charge a fair price and you should get buyers... Then, consider donating part of your profits to the zc project. :smile:

You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee.

If you have modified the Zen Cart code in any way, you have created a fork and will be obligated to support your new project. You will not be allowed to advertise it on this forum and you would need to rebrand it according to the terms of the GPL with our copyrights.
