Bizarre Happenings when changing stylesheet

Hi there.

I am totaly new to Zen, My father just roped me in to help with setting up his store.

I want to add a backgroud image to the store.

I made a copy of the Clasic template and changed the name and the template_info.php file to reflect the new name.

I then opened the stylesheet.css and did this:

body {
	margin: 0;
	font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 62.5%;
	color: #000000;
	background-color: #f4f4f4;
	background-image: url(../image/title_back.jpg);
	}

but instead of adding a background image, the side bars vanished

Can anyone explain to me why this is happning? and how am I ment to fix it?

Did you click the Reset button at the bottom of the Tools > Layout Box Controller page after selecting the new template?

I have done so now and it reset the the boxes perfectly, thanks!
But the image I want to display dosent show. Can you think why that might be?

Try it with images

background-image: url(../images/title_back.jpg);

And is your image really named title_back.jpg? The standard version of this is named tile_back.gif. Be sure you haven't confused title for tile.

How is an image generaly shown?
The file that I am using is a small tile which is ment to be repeted.

I want the carbon fibre effect on the background to be carried over to the shop (which can be seen by clicking on Products)

the tile is suposed to be repeted to give that effect

is it possible that the picture is simply in the centre of the page and therefore not seen?

Which /images directory did you put the image in?

Exactly where did you save the tile image? Can we have a link to see your site live? That often allows diagnosis that would be impossible otherwise.
