Small image size problem in IE8

Referring to this (https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=30) help page, I discovered that I should be able to fix (make static) the height or width of small images, however... when I set my height to blank and the width to 80, the images show with 1px height in IE8. The small images appear fine in Firefox and Chrome. Setting IE to "compatible" mode doesn't help. I thought IE8 was supposed to be standards compliant! Does anyone have a clue what could be going on here? HELP! THANKS! :frusty:

Re: Small image size problem in IE8

As you currently only have about 50 images your best option to be cross browser compatible is to matte all of your images to one single size. Then do this same thing for any additions

Unfortunately, modifying (matting or cropping) the images is not an option with my client. Zencart frustrate!

Re: Small image size problem in IE8

I have different sized and proportioned images throughout both my stores. I simply set the same value (the largest required) for both the vertical and horizontal measuement in the admin settings -- rather than set one of them to 0 as mentioned in that FAQ article. For example, my small image sizes are...
Small Image Width 120
Small Image Height 120

This works fine. Check out my stores in any browser.

Counsel your client about site being & looking professional as this is recommended for anything and not a ZenCart issue per se
This site started without standard image sizes and all were on a gray background - you will have to imagine what grey would look like see it HERE
I think it illustrates what a more professional implementation imparts versus different sizes and a contrasting background
