All product listing - moving the description text up?

What do you have set for Configuration > New Listing > Display Product Description ?

Did you do the
//$disp_text = zen_clean_html($disp_text);
comment? You should only do that if you want to use HTML in the description, and if you do it, you need to set the description length to longer than your longest description. A shorrter setting risks cutting off HTML tags, as I think you are experiencing here.

Re: All product listing - moving the description text up?

I switched the default editor to the HTML one, but everytime I open a product to edit it, I get this message: *Mozilla < 1.3 Beta is not supported! I'll try, though, but it might not work. * It comes up no matter what browser I am using. I have firefox, google chrome, and IE 7. So maybe that is why. The "All Products" listing main page is not doing this. Maybe that is because I altered that page through the stylesheet using the suggestions given in the other thread.

I did add that coding, so I went in and took it out, and that fixed the problem. Thanks!

BUT.... since we are on the subject, do you know why I would be getting this. I did not add an additional editor, just using the default HTML editor in ADMIN.

Re: All product listing - moving the description text up?

Are you using the HTMLArea editor that inserts tags for you, or are you using the plain textarea where you have to write tags yourself? "default HTML editor" could be taken either way:) I don't use HTMLArea and have no idea why it would give that error, if that is what is happening.

The description code could only be written by a machine - a human would never use so many redundant tags. This bit indicates a non-standard platform of some sort (webkit is the base for Chrome and others, I believe, but not Firefox/Mozilla)```
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; ">At 300 PPI these are

Yes, I am using the HTMLarea editor. So would you suggest going in and redoing all the product descriptions using Firefox? How can I remedy not only the error message but the extra tags?

I do copy and paste most of my product descriptions from other products, because they are all pretty much the same. Maybe that is where I am getting the extra tags?

Re: All product listing - moving the description text up?

If your copy/paste picks up the HTML formatting from the other locations, that would be how you are getting the tag soup. (Are you talking about other sites, or other products on your site?)
The browser has nothing to do with being able to enter clean description text; if you set the default text editor in Configuration > My Store > HTML Editor to plain text, you will get no tags that you do not explicitly enter. If you don't know how to write HTML tag code, you need to use an editor.

Re: All product listing - moving the description text up?

I sell at several other stores too, and I copied the text I typed in there from the other stores for the same product. Saves time. I am using the HTML editor in the admin, but it is still showing that error message. It does not show when I am in Firefox though, so that is strange.

Thanks for all your help!

Re: All product listing - moving the description text up?

It is me again!!! Have another question, but not about my site. It is about a site I am customizing for a friend. I can not get the "...more info" link to move from below the picture to under the description which I moved to the right of the image. It is right on my site, but I am using a different template for this site than I did mine and I don't think it is working the same way. I also vaguely this being mention somewhere, but I can't find it. Any help you can give would be great! Thank you!
