Question using table rate per item for shipping

I've checked the forums for a couple days and haven't found exactly what I need. I have a store that sells boxes of chocolates. For a 2 piece box of chocolate if you order 1-20 boxes the shipping is $10, 21-40 boxes uses a bigger shipping box and costs $13. For a 4 piece box of chocolates if you order 1-10 boxes the shipping is $10, 11-20 is $13, etc. To me it seems I need to use a combination of table rate and per item.

I started by cloning the table rates so that I have table1, table2, and table3 but how do I connect item #1 to table1? Or is this not the way to do it?

I really don't have all the products set up because this shipping question is holding it up. But if it helps here is the site: http://chocolatebydesignonline.com/store. The 2 Piece Gold Chest is the only one that is set up (with the attributes that I want to use). So basically this is what I need:

2 Piece Gold Chest: 1-20 boxes is $10.35, 21-40 is $13.95, 41-60 boxes is $24.30

4 Piece Clear Chest: 1-10 boxes is $10.35, 11-20 is $13.95, 21-40 boxes is $24.30

...and so on....

I hope this makes sense.

Your products show a minimum of 20 ... how do I order just 1 or 3 or 7 etc. for the 1 - 20?

You are right....sorry. Forget the 1-20. 20-40,41-60, etc....

Have your tried:

20:10.35, 40:13.95, 60:24.30

Also note you may want something for beyond 60, such as 1000:XX.XX ...

Or you could use a percentage charge on the Order Total with:
1000:7%

Unfortunately there is no real way to calculate shipping on a per product or manufacturer basis without using a mod of some sort.:mellow:

Also, what if a customer wants to purchase a 4 piece set of chocolates as well as the 2 piece sets? How would you calculate shipping for that kind of order?
There are options - you could try the ship by weight module or find a mod online that will work for you. We also came across shipping problems and finally found a purchased mod that works well for us.:smile:

Let's say I sell widgets, gadgets and gizmos. Widgets are 2lbs each, gadgets are 11lbs and gizmoes 21lbs. I ship to regions A, B, and C. Anyone who orders from region D is outta luck. :P Shipping is as follows:

widgets:
1-6....$10 to A, $13 to B and $18 to C
7-12...$20 to A, $26 to B and $36 to C
13-18..$30 to A, $39 to B and $54 to C
Etc, etc, etc...

Gadgets:
1......UP TO: $15 to A, $17 to B and $25 to C (depending on specific area)
2......UP TO: $19 to A, $23 to B and $38 to C
more...$3, $4 and 9$ per unit above 2

Gizmoes:
1......UP TO: $19 to A, $23 to B and $38 to C (depending on specific area)
2......UP TO: $28 to A, $35 to B and $66 to C
more...$6, $8 and $18 per unit above 2

Unfortunately I have never been able to get shipping working by using the various mods and getting them to work together. We ended going with advanced shipper, we had to pay 85.00 for it but it seems to be the best solution we have found so far.

I feel your pain. I just can't believe that shipping is not offered per product. Not all products cost the same to ship.
