Desperate help with mix freight costs

Version 1.3.8a

My customer has mixed goods.

For example, she sells (not by the sea side)

Trampolines (4 different sizes)
Engagement rings
Snow Board
Wake board
Personalize plates
DVD's
etc

Problem is I can not for example use Australia Post as they do not handle large items like trampolines. On the other hand Australia Post would ideal for rest of the stuff.

How am I going to handle products while using Australia Post module at the same time. If I do mix them them this is what happens.

I set up a attribute with price for the Trampolines. So Trampolines works great for different sizes but shows Australia post error message.

I need a solution please. And I know what happens when you mixed the items in the one order, what then ?

Suggestion To Zen: It would be great if we had check boxes with all the installed shipping modules showing up in the product detail when we create a new item for the first time. That way we can assign individual shipping to individual items. That would be great if we had this as a new feature as most people seems to be having similar problems when it comes to shipping and mixing.

Re: Desperate help with mix freight costs

What should happen when I buy a Trampoline?

What should happen when I buy a Trampoline, a Ring and a Snow Board?

Re: Desperate help with mix freight costs

Exactly. I have read 137 plus posts on this topic and I don't have an answer.

It is hard to get this problem across to my customer. look what she says.
"Ok – I do understand but how do other webstores do this when they sell multiple items to one person (products from different manufactures/locations ectL. Leave it up to you and in the meantime I will have a chat to my freight and logistics contact to see if I can run all of my product weight and sizes by them for more accurate costings. "

Forgetting about what she said for a moment and let me get back to my post and your questions for a minute.

Solution 1:
When you buy a trampoline only , solution is simple as I have created a product with attributes where the shipping is added with different values for different states/zones within Australia only . Naturally she can not sell world wide with this arrangement and she is happy 'for the moment'.

Solution 2:
When you buy combination is a problem and you know it as well as I do and seen from other posts. Would be great idea if my suggestion was realised as per my previous post. But anyway my solution would be for the combination purchase is to repeat the solution 1 for the solution 2 and disable All shipping mods.

I am about to do this and have no idea its consequences. Do you think in my case it will work?

I don't have a solution for the long term.

Problem is and will be:
Customers are channeling different products from different suppliers. They come in different sizes and weights. There is no one single shipping solution to fit all. Some items can be posted USPS/Australia POST using one shipping mod but large items can not be used with those services. This is the problem.

Here is a question for you. Using Zen Cart:

Which shipping method can I use to send a trampoline to one customer?
Which shipping method can I use to send Trampoline, a Ring and a Snow Board ?

I am really lost what to say to this customer as I can not control what she want to sell. Still desperately seeking. Your comments are much appreciated as usual.

Re: Desperate help with mix freight costs

OK I found OsComerce Australian Freight company shipping module. I have a look although code is different, location of the files seems to be same. I have uploaded but no such luck. Person (Lloyd Swadling, https://www.workshopdirect.com.au) who coded can not be found and his website is no longer there.

I was wondering if anybody out there willing to have a look at the code to see if it can be converted to Zen Cart. I am only suggesting this as I am in desperate need. Shipping company is one of the largest in Australia called TOLL Holdings. They will ship anything.

I have attached the module. There is only two files and one image. I hope you can respond to this and I am sure many many Aussies out there would enjoy this mod. There is one other mod in osCommerce for TNT couriers too but for now TOLL only.

Many thanks if you are reading this.

Re: Desperate help with mix freight costs

Hi oavs

I am in a similar situation (but from Melbourne) and have gone so far as to seek help as follows:

I will look at Toll's solution, despite its 2003 date and my novice programming skills.

Toll solution too complex compared to reply #3 in above thread.
