Allowing customer to specify payment amount?

I'm hoping this is the proper place to post this thread, if not -- I apologize.

Anywho, I have a client who is looking to introduce specific payment for their product. It's a church so what they're really looking to do is have a text field that would allow a parishioner to enter in the exact amount that they would like to donate/tithe/offer for the Church instead of forcing them to have to deal with incremented amounts.

Is this possible? Thanks!

Re: Allowing customer to specify payment amount?

Conceptually, one could simply create a $1.00 product, and allow the customer to enter their desired donation amount in the "quantity" box, since $1.00 x amount = amount.
