Confused about setting up attribute to handle multiple model numbers
I am using the current version of Zen Cart and I have checked a lot of the posts and I am still a little confused about this issue. I have like so many others, a few products that have multiple model numbers. And instead of listing the same product/description etc. for each model, I want to set up one product listing with an attribute to pick which model is needed.
So is this possible?
Hope image makes thing clearer as to what I want to do!
And if so, is this the correct steps to take to set up?
First thing, backup the data base.
Goto: admin > catalog > option name manager
Step 1.
Pick an option name example: Model
Pick option type: dropdown, radio button, checkbox etc. (I using radio buttons)
Then hit insert button
Step 2.
Hit option value button, and then select your option name which is: Model
Enter a name for the radio button etc.
Pick the default sort order
Then hit insert button
Repeat the process for another radio button - at this point do you set up all the different model numbers that will be used. I have about 20 for 10 different products. But only using two model numbers per-product
Step 3.
Hit the attribute controller button
Select a category or product
Select option name: Model
Select option value: model number to be used
Hit insert button
Repeat the process for other radio button
So at this point can I pick a different product, use the same option name: Model, then use two different model numbers? (Option value)
Example:
Product #1
model: XXXXXA
XXXXXB
Product #2
Model: XXXXXC
XXXXXD
Hope I have explained myself, so that you understand what I want.
