Not accepting payments from your zone

We're using 1.3.8
Our add ons are: admin activity report 1.3; admin users (restrict cats) 1.0.8, better together & admin; hide categories; reward points. They've all been installed for at least a month, most more.
As far as we know, this issue started yesterday. When you go to check out, you get to step 2, payment and it says, Sorry, we are not currently accepting payment from your region. We have the 3 Pay Pal payment modules activated, all are set to none on the zones, our products are virtual so, we only have the free shipping activated, also with none on the zones. We have tried reinstalling payment modules and that hasn't helped. We compared our index.php to a fresh one and found nothing... The only real customization, aside from add ons is the skin... Why do you have 3 PayPal Payment modules active at the same time?

It was in an attempt to get any to work. Even with only one, or two active, we still have the exact same problem.

Do you have The Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD freecharger installed?

If not, do so ...

Check each Payment module installed and make sure none have a Zone set ...

Remove any Payment method installed that is set to disabled ...

Check that if you are using a Sort Order on any of the Payment Modules that you have a unique one set to each of them ...

Does this change anything?

Next, switch to Classic Template ... does that change anything?

We have installed and tested with The Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD freecharger installed. We are unable to keep it installed because for some reason, it still shows up as a payment option and allows sales to go through even when they are not at $0 (We should probably post somewhere about that as well). Installation did not change the situation, so it has been removed. Also, it appears as the only available payment method regardless of the cart total.

Each Payment module installed has been checked and all are set to --none-- in the zone area.

We do not have any disabled payment modules.

All payment modules have a unique sort order id.

And finally. . .switching to the classic template did not change anything.

NOTE: Things were working fine until we installed the freeecharger, and uninstalled once we discovered it was allowing pay sales to go through as free.

This source of the problem is determining "why" the Zen Cart Free Charge Card freecharger is always there ...

That is designed to "only" show if the whole order is $0.00 ...

And when it shows, no other payment module will show ...

Let's try this ..

Make a Test Product for $10.00 with no attributes ...

Add this as the only product to the cart ...

Go to the checkout ... what payment modules show?

Ok, I reinstalled freecharger and added a test product. Basic, no attributes, $10. . .still the only available payment module is the freecharger. The paypal express shows up on the cart page but once you hit continue to checkout, only the freecharger. (NOTE: I'm going to uninstall freecharger now to ensure no one is able to get out with free products until this is resolved.)

Okay ... this kind of comes down to the fun way to find a problem ...

Either there is bad data somewhere in the database triggering this or something bad in the code ...

The only way to figure this out is to review all of the data and to check the code with something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com ...

If you are not good at this type of thing, you may PM me for further help with this issue ...

Ok, so basically I need to run a check on my database to make sure there doesn't show up any corrupt data and run code coparisons?

Any suggestions on what files I should start with running the comparisons?

I know "something" is causing your checkout to think that the order is free, even though the shopping cart and order is showing as a value and even though you tested a product with no attributes ...

Frankly, it doesn't make a lot of sense, but bad data or bad, corrupt, damaged or missing code can cause this as well ...

It could be an add on ... it could be a lot of things and reviewing everything to look for something odd or out of place is the first things to do ...

Thank you soooooo much for leading us down the right path. I found this little tid bit " || $total == 0" at the end of line 40 on my includes\classes\payment.php file. . .took it off, installed the freecharger and away we went. It also fixed the other problem with the freecharger making believe the cart total was $0 when it was not.
