EZ-Page Improved TOC [support]

EZ-Page Improved TOC has been submitted to Free Addons and should be available soon.

This mod gives a better Table of Contents to ez-pages with chapter links.

* Internal and external ez-page links which are set to appear in the TOC will be displayed.
* The current page title is not a link.
* Current and non-current page titles have distinct classes to style with CSS.

installed it. TOC works. But somehow my external links dont seem to work.

Where did I go wrong?

Let's have a link to see your site live, as that is the only way to start to diagnose this.
Also post the URL you pasted into the ez-page creation form for the external link, and all the settings you made for it.

It is currently not a live site. I am still running it from a virtual drive on my computer.

Anyway got another question. Is it possible to shift the TOC to another side? Like maybe to the left margin or something?

I just tested an external link from my local (xampp) test installation, and it worked fine. I even tested with the exact link you posted, so there might be something different about your computer's connection to the internet, or firewall, or...?

What exactly doesn't work about the external link for you? At what stage does it fail?

The external link works. But the problem is I cannot make it open in a new window.

OK, I can replicate that. I even tested with the zen-cart.com link that comes in the demo installation, and external links will open in a new window from the header, but not from the TOC. Same for links to other ez-pages. This is apparently a built-in shortcoming of the TOC. I will see if it can be remedied.

After some study of the various ez-page links list locations, I believe the lack of new page jumping in the TOC is deliberate, and probably should not be tampered with. The ez-page itself, where the TOC is located, has an optional prev/next function, and jumping to a new page during that would potentially multiply windows forever - a bad thing. It might be possible to have only direct TOC clicks jump to a new page, but that is more involved than I want to work on at this time.

It should be noted (obvious if you think about it) that clicking an internal or external link in the TOC will take you away from the ez-page system and the TOC will disappear; thus, there is no going back to the TOC except by clicking the browser back button.

This is probably why the internal and external links were originally excluded from the TOC display, whether set for it or not. I needed them to show there for a site I was building, and trust that those who use the mod can handle the ramifications.

If you don't want to risk users clicking away from the TOC, don't include internal or external links in it.
Or else do as I did and build static "TOC" link displays in the referenced internal link pages to replicate the function.

Im using the latest version of zen cart. I installed ezpages improved menus and it was working fine but then I installed the ezpages improved TOC and now the text has disappeared from the menus and the ezpages??

In the top left of each ezpage shows "Array"

Any ideas what I have done wrong.

Not at the moment. It is possible that there is some conflict between the mods; I can't remember now if I tested them together, though I think I had them both installed on my old test site at the same time. I am up to my eyeballs in a project now, and won't be able to take time to investigate for another week or so (end of June).

I had to upgrade zencart to V. 1.3.9. Now the TOC no longer works.
simply not toc visible, the words "table of contents" may or may not appear.

This addon states to be for V. 1.3.8. Does anyone know if it will work on new version? Or why the TOC stopped working upon upgrade? and a fix ??

I have had a design template installed. When switching to a standard template the TOC works. I therefore apparently am missing code. Where would it be?

If the template package includes /includes/templates/your_template/templates/tpl_page_default.php or /includes/modules/pages/page/header_php.php, it will conflict with this mod's functionality. You would have to merge the file versions.
In any case, the TOC itself would not be disabled, simply missing some mod functionality.

If the Template Monster version cuts out the TOC code in tpl_page_default.php, that would cause the issue.

Pazaz - There is no conflict between Ezpages Improved Menus and EZ-Page Improved TOC, as they touch none of the same files. If one of the second mod files is corrupt after upload, reloading it should fix the problem.
