Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

Today I moved my my Zen Cart store on the GoDaddy. The version is 1.3.8a. I'm not having any problems with the site (so far) except changing the admin settings...

I'm needing to change the store owners email (Configuration > Email Options) and create a new admin account. (Tools > Admin Settings).

When I do this, I go into Email Options to change the email address, I click "edit", enter the new email address, click "update", and it takes me back to thwe Admin Control Panel. But when I go in and verify this change, it displays the old email address.

Also when I go in a create a new account, I click "insert", add my new account information, and click "save", but it doesn't create a new account.

I double checked my two configure.php files (the orginals from the new install that I reuploaded after uploading my orginal site files). Each have read only access, which is the same permissions that are on the old server.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

The symptoms you report appear similar to what would happen when an incomplete security patch is applied.

For more information, refer to this thread.

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

Thank you for your input.. I installed the security patch on my old "testing" site before I moved it over to the new host. I just went back to my testing site and was able to make the changes to the email.

I also just checked the html_output.php and made sure it had
the line "$form .= '<input type="hidden" name="securityToken" value="' . $_SESSION['securityToken'] . '" />';"

I've reuploaded that file to my new server, but now it I'm unable to access my control panel. It says:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function zen_catalog_href_link() in /home/content/30/5006030/html/admin/includes/header.php on line 230

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

Ok, I decided to start over with a new fresh install of the store on the GoDaady server.

I'm still experiencing the problem of not being able to edit the email or the store owner information. I copied the files directly over from my old server (where I can make these changes).

The version of the Zen Cart I'm running is Zen Cart 1.3.8a

Thank you!

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

I wanted to elebrate on my previous post. My orginal site was built on HostMonster (version Zen Cart 1.3.8a) . When I did a fresh Zen Cart install it was from the GoDaddy Application site (Zen Cart 1.3.8a.1)

Now my store on GoDaddy says it's version Zen Cart 1.3.8a.

As I mentioned before, my testing site on Hostmonster still works prefectly, but my "permanment location of the site" on GoDaddy won't allow me to make any changes regarding the store (email addresses, admin users, even the store name). This all needs to be changed because my client won't be getting any of their orders because the email address from the testing site (Hostmonster) is set to go to an email address I use to have when I orginally developed the site that I don't have access to anymore.

Thank you,

Lindsey

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

What you can do is to try removing and undoing the security patch first. That will verify whether GoDaddy's automated installer has applied the security patch properly and thus whether it is the cause of the problems you are facing.

For added security while verifying the patch, you may want to temporarily restrict access to your store to only specific authenticated users via your host's control panel.

Btw, it would be best to do the install manually as detailed in the Tutorials/FAQs article instead of installing the store via an automated installer.

Hi pazazmar
were you able to resolve your problem? I'm having exactly the same problem after moving my site from my local machine to my webserver.
If you did could you please post how you fixed it.

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

I did find a note in the ZC tutorial that the session_write_ key might need resetting after moving ZC. I did that and indeed the setting in inc.udes/configure was different to the database setting and the fix_cache_key.php file fixed it. The bad news is that it didn't fix the problem it still the same.

Re: Can't change admin settings after moving to GoDaddy host

You moved your zencart TO GoDaddy FROM somewhere else ???

This has to be a first... I suggest you contact Guinness Book of Records.

I hope (for your sake) it all goes well...

... history strongly suggests it won't.
