Changing order of items on main page

The center column has three items at the top, the "HEADING_TITLE", "TEXT_GREETING_GUEST", and then a gif graphic(e-start.gif). I'd like to change the display order so that the graphic is on top and is then followed by the two text fields. sowhere do I find out how to do this? I have the e-Start book but I don't see how to fid where to make the changes I want.

Re: Changing order of items on main page

Hard to say as that image is not a standard gif. How's about at least a URL?

Re: Changing order of items on main page

Not a standard gif? Everything is part of the 'classic' template so how is this not standard? I don't understand?

Re: Changing order of items on main page

perhaps you meant e-start-book.gif?

Since we now have a little information, I'll tell you that you need to go to the Tutoriials/FAQ and search on override.

Developing in Classic will cause major headaches on upgrade.

Re: Changing order of items on main page

I did mean e-start-book.gif. I'm making my own custom template so I don't expect any more than the standard problems a newbie has. An I have studied all the override documentation but I can find nothing specific on where and how best to make the changes I want to make. So this posting.

Re: Changing order of items on main page

The homepage center column is built by /includes/templates/your_template/templates/tpl_index_default.php, which outputs the heading title and customer greeting, then calls define_main_page.php which outputs whatever you have in it (like the book gif).

You can rearrange sections of the code, as long as you make sure not to mess up any loops involved.

The e-start book is a comprehensive owner's/operator's manual, but not meant to cover customization in any major way - that would be several large books right there.

Re: Changing order of items on main page

The point I was attempting to make is that two completely unmodified copies of Zen Cart could possibly still be way different based on what you have clicked, set, or toggled in the admin. Not to mention any items you may have changed in the stylesheet.

The posting tips are there so that we can see what we're dealing with without having to go through twenty questions to find out at #19 that you have installed mods that are known to have problems when installed together.

If you can't provide a URL, say so from the start.

Whether or not you will be able to rearrange by one of several different methods can better be determined with better input on the part of the one posing the question.

Re: Changing order of items on main page

Thanks gjh42, that is the information I was looking for. I will be making an override to make the change so if do mess things up I can go back to square one and start over.
