Help! Just moved over to 1.3.8a and "Log In" is not working right

Please Help!

Just moved over to 1.3.8a a couple of days ago and have just noticed that if a customer tries to "Log In" without having anything in their cart then it just goes back to the home screen page and shows "Log In" still in the menu bar... customer is not logged in.

I have noticed that when I clear my temp files and go to my site that the /index.php?main_page=login will have a zen id.... If I take the ?zen_id off then there are not any problems.... also apparently if I had something in my cart and login then things will work okay....

That's almost always a result of an incomplete upgrade.

If you install a brand new uncustomized copy of Zen Cart1.3.8a in another folder+database, you should find that it works fine. Thus, the next step would be to check every file for differences that were merged incorrectly during the upgrade.
This is how I tackle anomalies like that: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshoot_-_Diagnosing_Obscure_Issues

Re: Help! Just moved over to 1.3.8a and "Log In" is not working right

Now that I have had a little sleep....

I have added these modules to the 1.3.8a ...

cross_sell__just_another_cross_sell_mod_rev186.zip
module_manager_rev16zip.zip
ultimate_seo_urls_2-107.zip
ask_1.8
google_anal v1.2.2
encrypted_master_password_1.2
zen_googlecode v1.2.2
shopping_cart_freeshippingqualifier_sidebox_1.3

I think the master_password may have over wrote some login files.... and will start looking there.

Often so-called "seo" addons can break things like login too, esp if you don't set your .htaccess properly for your unique server
