mix and match quantity discount?

I have one product that I want to offer an additional discount if they buy 10 or more.

This product has three variations (it is a food product with three different flavours).

I want the customer to be able to pick any combination of the three flavours to make an order of 10 for the discount.

Can this be done?

Re: mix and match quantity discount?

I assume the flavors are attributes - if so, yes, this can be done. Watch out for this bug though:

Hmmm, so lets say I create options with radio buttons for the 3 different flavours,

how is it possible to select say 3 X flavour A, 3 X flavour B and 4 X Flavour C
and add them to the cart?

If it's just the one item with no options they can easily add any quantity they want in one action but as soon as
you add options as radio buttons I can only see how 1 can be added.

Is there some way to have a quantity box for each option?

It's not possible to do this without changing code. The way it's built right now you would add the A's, then B's then C's one at a time.

OK, is it possible then to have them as 3 separate products but somehow have them setup so that
an additional discount is applied when the threshold of 10 of any combination of the 3 items is reached?

Then the customer could add the quantity of each one very easily. So long as the cumulative
discount is applied at some point that would be fine.

Thanks for your feedback.

Re: mix and match quantity discount?

You cannot do this if you want to use the built in quantity discount system.

If you want to make them separate products, you would need to use my Quantity Discount contribution from the free software add-ons area.

Re: mix and match quantity discount?

OK, I read the description on the quantity discount mod you mention in the contributions.

It seems it will do the discount only per item or per category or for all items in the cart.

So it would appear that if I want the customer to be able to mix three items (or alternatively, choices of
variation for one item) for a cumulative discount then I would need to create a separate category for them?

(I am not discounting every item in the store this way, only the one item for now, so cannot use
anything that applies the discount to the entire cart)

Re: mix and match quantity discount?

Ok I had a look at the quantity discounts contribution instructions and have tentatively installed in on a test cart.

But it appears that to do what I want I would need to;

  1. Create a new category with only the products being discounted then exclude the other categories

or

  1. Exclude every last product in the store except the ones I want discounted (and obviously this would need to be
updated anytime a new product is added)

Let me know if this is not correct.

Thanks

Re: mix and match quantity discount?

On (2), you can invert this logic and include only the products you want, returning "false" for those and true otherwise from the exclude function.

Re: mix and match quantity discount?

OK, I'll have a look at that when I move it to my live store.

If I want to have more than one set of items to be discounted, like if I want to have a separate
mix and match deal on books, can I create a 2nd instance of the module by renaming it or
something ?

Thanks for the help :)

You're going to have to write some custom software.
