Newbie & CSS Category Menu Help..

I am new. I have read up on customizing the css stylesheets, read thru the forums, did tutorials, but am overwhelmed with all the information.I have the purpleshades template and I am setting my categories up in alphabet letters (a b c d) with that said, 26 letters appear lengthwise in the category box. I want each one to appear as like horizontal buttons that can be clicked on by letter, but simply am so confused how to do this. I am in need of someones expertise that can explain to me in newbie terms how to accomplish this frustrating task.

Re: Newbie & CSS Category Menu Help..

As always, a link to your site would help a lot. I'm guessing that what you'll need to do is specify a background color or background image under A.category-top in the stylesheet.

Re: Newbie & CSS Category Menu Help..

I have looked everywhere  I can think of and I can't find a way to turn off the number after the category in my sidebox. I know this must be simple. (I would send a link, but it's not ready yet)

e.g.
Plates (3)
Forks (2)

I want the (3) and (2) to go away. :censored:

Please help! I've customized my site to the hilt and it's killing me something like this is taking me down for the count. :(

Thanks in advance,

Rahel

Re: Newbie & CSS Category Menu Help..

Can someone please tell me what I need to do so customers can click on product by first letter. (like a button, b button ect) I have the manufacturers listed by category then the style as a sub category, this looks silly as a scrolling list or even a drop down cause I have 400 manufacturers. I want them to be able to click on a button with the first letter of the manufacturers name. I have asked this question many times before and never really do get a fulfilling answer. I am new, so please explain in newbie terms.

CRYSTALDOLL:

Im sorry I meant a.categories-top.

Try A.category-top. That's in the default stylesheet.
