Flash on main page

Okay so here again with what seems to be a simple issue. I am attempting to upload a flash (SWF) file to my main page through the ddefine page editor. every time I attempt to upload the SWF file it returns with invalid file or cannot upload. can anyonehelp me out with this. I don't want it in my banner but rather in the centre of the template.

and just so everyone knows I have never used script before so I might need step by step direction

you may not have write permission for the folder that you want to upload your flash file to . use your FTP program to upload files.

I have the somewhat same issue, I have a box with the red X in it, I have uploaded the file to the server, permissions on the directory are 755 and the file is 644. I can see the file in preview when I load it with define pages editor. I am uploading it to the define_main_page.php page, what am I doing wrong?
