Apache crashes on install?

on zen 1.3.8, and apache 2.2 whenever i try to install the zen cart it crashes my apache server.

I'm running everything on Win XP, and everything is the latest version and the pre install check showed that everything was ready for the install.

I have no clue what either of those are, so i'm going to say neither.

Is this to be a local development environment?
XP is not meant to be a web server environment and one should be using server2003 or 2007 with IIS then the AMP installed.

well i was never able to get either the 2003 or 2008 server to work right on my computer. maybe now is a good time to figure it out?

If attempting to run one's own server for the www, there are several points that one should consider - -
Your link to the www - speed and not ypur download speed but the upload speed as this is what a web server does - upload content

I too have this problem.

I am trying to install zencart on my local host (WAMPserver2) for testing and development, everything works fine, except for when I try to save my Database settings, it crashes the apache (v2.2.11) and forces me to save an empty index.php file, then hangs there. I've tried multiple methods and have read the tutorial several times, no luck.

P.S
I have noticed that on every page, above the installer it reads a command line similiar to:```php

Is there something that I am missing? I cannot figure it out.

Does your WAMP Server use PHP 5.3?

Zen Cart v1.3.8a and earlier will not work with that PHP version.
