Is there a simple way to archive or delete old orders from zen cart? Our new season is about to start up and id like the order list to start from this season forward.

thanks.

As a customer, I might like to see what I purchased last season or 2 seasons ago...

Re: HOw to archive old orders?

Since you say "simple", use phpmyadmin to make a copy of the database when your cutoff time comes, and then just delete the orders in your live database.

(you may need to use some other tool to create an empty database first depending on your host, create priv is often absent in phpmyadmin on shared hosting)

If your shop evolves a lot, that is also a good time to make and save a backup of your code too.

Kobra makes a good point to consider. If your shop is not allowing / requiring customers to make an account in the first place, then this is no issue.

Re: HOw to archive old orders?

I've run into a similar situation as this. Many of the orders I take contain multiple individual products and each product has an attribute. As a result my zen_orders_products_attributes, zen_orders_products, and zen_orders tables have grown quite large.

I wish there was some way to compress or archive these. Although customers may have an interest, it really isn't important to see what they ordered 3 years ago.

I guess I may need to do what was mentioned above.......or buy more SQL space, dun, dun, dun.
