Confirmation email shows extra  character

Hi,
I have been trying to find a solution to my problem and want to know where in the order.php (I think it's the right file) I can change the code so that I can get rid of the A that shows infront of my price in the confirmation emails.
I don't know how I've got it, and not being familiar with php I'm reluctant to change anything without getting confirmation that Im in the right area.

This is what I get:

1 x Strimmer V28W TH43 (V28W TH43) = £269.99

Sub-Total: £269.99
Shipping: £0.00
Sales Tax: £0.00
Total: £269.99

I guess the A does not appear in the prices elsewhere in the shop? Just need to check.

Are you using html emails or plain text?

Email Admin format is text, and no, the A does not appear anywhere else, just the confirmation email.

Well, the block of text you are seeing is created outside order.php. If the text is appearing correctly elsewhere in the site I would guess that there is an encoding problem rather than a problem with the way the block of code is being built.

Sorry not to have an easy answer...

My confirmation email to customers is showing an additional character just before the cost, as below.

I should point out that this is not showing up anywhere else in the site. The Admin email format is TEXT and the site is oakgardenmachinery.co.uk.

I have tried looking in a couple of php pages but cannot see where the problem could be.

Could someone please let me know if they've seen this before and, if so, how to fix it?

I am using v1.3.7.1.

Probably your setting in Admin >> Configuration >> Email Options >> Convert currencies for Text emails
