desktop shortcut not working after renaming admin folder

Hi, I have set up a desktop shortcut on my computer to access my zen cart admin. I also just renamed my "admin" name. So I changed my shorcut to the new path,

mydomainname.com/mynewadminname/index.php.

This correct path (which works when I type it manually) appears only for 1 second, and then switch to my old path,

mydomainname.com/ecommerce/admin/index.php
(which is no longer valid since I renamed "admin")

and of course I am logging onto the hostgator error page.

Any idea ??

Re: desktop shortcut not working after renaming admin folder

Check the /your_admin_dir/includes/configure.php file, on the server, and ensure that your changes have been made correctly for the new path to your /admin to your new /your_admin_dir ...

Be aware that files set to 444 on the server cannot be overwritten via FTP until changed to at least 644 ...

Check your .htaccess file to see if there is some type of rewrite from one address to another or for error pages etc.

NOTE: If you can manually enter the URL into the browser and your admin works, then delete the icon on the desktop ... manually enter the URL to your admin into your browser and login ... click the link Admin Home 3 times and ensure you do not see the zenAdminID in the URL and then drag the URL to your desktop ...

Done that. It looked OK. So it looks like that:

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/my_admin_name/');
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/my_admin_name/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

and:

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/my_store/public_html/my_admin_name/');
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/my_store/public_html/');

Ajeh:

What is the .htaccess file ?

Tried that... did not work...

Re: desktop shortcut not working after renaming admin folder

If going to the URL of your renamed admin takes you to the login URL for your old admin, then whatever changes you attempted to make to your /admin/includes/configure.php file DID NOT SAVE properly on the server.
Since that file is normally read-only, you MUST make it writable before your changes will save or upload. Naturally, make it read-only again when finished editing.

Re: desktop shortcut not working after renaming admin folder

Yes, I got you. But this part was done too.
I changed the permission to the configure.php to "write", made the changes (change "admin" to "my_new_admin" name) and changed the permission to 644, or 444. The changes are in, but still no result.

Of course, the file name is also called "my_new_admin" instead of "admin".

What is weird too is that my last URL was:
http://aheartfortheearth.com/ecommerce/admin/index.php
and now, the URL that works is :
http://aheartfortheearth.com/my_new_admin/index.php
i.e. without /ecommerce / which, by the way, I did not delete this word anywhere.

Would there be something to change too on my Hostgator provider ?

Thanks

Re: desktop shortcut not working after renaming admin folder

Why do you still have an /ecommerce/ folder then?

Only if you or they have made some server-side configuration changes to do specific redirects of your new admin URL to the /ecommerce/ folder. Those are usually done manually in .htaccess.
You may need to ask them about that part.

Re: desktop shortcut not working after renaming admin folder

Right. So, if you don't intend to use it, you should delete it.

That's not the root of your problem, but does confuse things somewhat.
